Car Rental Requirements in Davao: What You Need Before You Drive Off

Before we hand over the keys to anyone, we make sure they know exactly what’s needed to rent a car from us. Whether you’re a local planning a weekend trip or a tourist exploring Davao for the first time, there are a few essential things you’ll need to prepare before driving off.

Valid Driver’s License

If you’re a local resident, a valid Philippine non-professional or professional driver’s license is a must. For tourists, you can use your home country’s license as long as you’ve been in the Philippines for less than 90 days. If it’s been longer, you’ll need either an International Driving Permit or a Philippine license.

We follow this rule closely to make sure everything is legal and that you’re protected on the road.

Two Valid Government-Issued IDs

We always remind our renters that we require two valid government-issued IDs, and yes, these must be left with us for the duration of the rental. It’s a standard security measure that helps us protect both the renter and our vehicles.

Minimum Age Requirement

You must be at least 18 years old, which is the minimum legal age to hold a driver’s license in the Philippines. Even if you have a valid license from another country, we still check that you meet the local age requirement.

Payment Methods

We try to make things easy. We accept cash, GCash, bank transfers, debit cards, and credit cards. Most of our clients prefer GCash or bank transfer when they pay the ₱500 non-refundable reservation fee. That amount locks in your preferred vehicle and rental dates.

Security Deposit

We collect a ₱2,000 security deposit before the rental begins. It’s refunded in full once the vehicle is returned in good condition. We usually return it the same way it was paid, unless you prefer another method.

Optional Vehicle Insurance (Collision Damage Waiver)

We offer an optional Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) for added peace of mind. It comes with specific terms and conditions that we carefully explain during the contract signing. While some renters skip it, others like the extra layer of protection it provides.

Booking in Advance or Walk-In Rentals

We always welcome walk-ins, but if you’re planning to rent during weekends or holidays, I strongly recommend booking in advance. Our cars get reserved quickly during those peak times. By reserving early, you get to choose from our full selection and avoid last-minute stress.

Delivery and Pick-Up

We offer free delivery to hotels near our office. For deliveries to the airport or other distant locations, a small fee applies. If you’re unsure whether your hotel qualifies for free delivery, just ask us and we’ll let you know right away.

Important Rental Policies

There are a few house rules I go over with every renter:

  • No smoking inside the car
  • No durian or wet market produce unless stored in an icebox or chiller
  • Pets are allowed but must stay in a clean pet cage during travel. Any mess or damage will result in a cleaning fee.
  • The car will be handed over with a full tank, and we expect it returned the same way.
  • Any damage must be settled before the deposit and IDs are returned.

We take vehicle cleanliness and safety seriously. If a renter returns the car with leftover smells or visible dirt from food, pets, or smoking, we charge a cleaning fee to cover professional services.

For a Smooth Experience

Renting a car should be a smooth and hassle-free process. We do our part to make sure it is. Have your documents ready, know the terms, and don’t hesitate to ask us anything before you book. We’re happy to guide you through it all.

If you’re looking for a trusted car rental in Davao City, whether for a short getaway, business trip, or family event, we’re here to help.
